Even though Nas & Jay Z supposedly ended their beef almost 15 years ago, fans are still not convinced that the two don't harbor a certain secret resentment. Since their beef, a theory has developed claiming that Hov purposely tries to step on Nas' releases with his own albums/singles. While the evidence is very compelling, Nas is convinced that this is somehow a cosmic coincidence of sorts.
The release of King's Disease, a longstanding fan theory that Jay-Z intentionally releases music on the same days as Nas resurfaced. When you consider that Jay Z was featured on the new Pharrell song "Entrepreneur," which released on Friday too, it's no surprise.
During Nas' interview with The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne asked, "Do you think Jay-Z releases projects on your album release dates on purpose?" Nas replied, "I think that maybe there's an energy that we both have where maybe we like work around the same time."
However, Charlamagne and his Breakfast Club co-host cited numerous moments when Jay-Z and Nas' release dates coincided. This lengthy list goes back to the height of their beef in 2001.
50 Cent had this to say:
"That's fucked up what they did to Nas," 50 tells DJ Whoo Kid in 2018. "This niggas still slapping him without everyone noticing what's going on. ... I ain't heard not one of them records on the radio. ... I be saying 'Fuck that I do whatever I want to do' and they be looking at me grimy for
doing that. This nigga be super quiet doing some real grimy shit."
Nas however finds the whole idea to be a bit of a stretch.
"That some coincidences," Nas said. "I mean, I don't know about that. I think things just happen. Synergy, man. Jay would know better than me."
What do you think? Is Nas being shaded by Jay Z or this all a big coinky-dink?
